Question : Hi
Something heavy fell on my foot from about 4.5 feet. It's on the right side of my foot near the ankle on the outside of my foot. I know have a golf ball sized swelling and discolouration. Thoughts? It hurts to walk on so in walking on my toes.

It could be soft tissue injury or fracture . Golf ball sized swelling might be due to haematoma formation(collection of blood).
You need an x-ray to rule out any bony injury.
I suggest you to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. You may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
Beside icing and elevating it, you can take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation.
