Posted on Thu, 5 Nov 2015
Question: I have a hard, colorless, painless lump on the lower, left side of my back. It has been there for a couple years. I had it checked out by my dr and he said I had nothing to worry about. Recently, it seems to be growing a bit and is more visible than ever. Should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
Sebaceus cyst is the most probable reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Can you please attach a photo of this lump? It will help in giving precise answer.

Lump in the back is usually a sebaceus cyst. Its a benign lesion which does not turn into a cancer. However if irritated can get infected and turn into reddish, swollen lump. Sebaceus cyst can slowly grow. But this should not cause any concern.
Sebacues cysts should be removed due to mentioned above reason (infection). I suggest you to consult general surgeon and consider its removal. In case of doubts, soft tissues ultrasound can be done to find out the nature of this lump.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
