What Causes A Hard Lump Behind The Head?

Question : Hi,

While shopping today I happened to touch the back of my head near about 11:00 above my right ear. I noticed a lump that I have noticed before. The lump is soft and it shrinks as I relaxed. When I focus on something like my bills or a computer game, it hardens and no pain. Is this normal? Do you think I need to check it out.

The lump is about 3/4" in diameter. The depth of the lump is about 1/8".

I am so sorry to hear about this finding an all the inconveniences this must have caused you. I have reviewed the information fully and there are no immediate futures which should get me concerned. This is certainly a normal variant and its change of size when relaxed or concerned about something makes it even less of a problem to dwell on.

For now, monitor only and report any further changes to us. When you next visit the hospital, also mention this for a quick review as well but, not visit for this alone.
