What Causes A Lump In The Uvula While Recovering From Type A Influenza?

Question: Hello! I just noticed this morning a small bump on the top right side of my uvula. I have a magnifying mirror and regularly check my mouth, so I know that it was not there before. I just recovered from type A influenza which I had a few weeks ago. I'm attaching a few images, when looking at the images the bump is on the top left side of the picture. Is this anything to be concerned about? Thank you!!

Brief Answer:
Mucositis

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HealthcareMagic and thanks for putting up the query..

I have seen the pictures attached. The small bump is probably due to a minor salivary gland in the mucosa. There is nothing to be worried about. Mucosal inflammation can occur due to influenza.
It will disappear in few days of its own.

Are you having any symptoms like pain on swallowing or burning sensation?
Any history of smoking or tobacco use?

Please follow up with the required information so that I can suggest you better.

Take care
Thanks and regards

Hi Doctor! Thank you so much for your quick and reassuring response! I have never smoked or used tobacco. There is no burning or pain in the area. All that I'm experiencing is some sinus related post nasal drip down the back of my throat.

Hello again Dr. Aggarwal! I actually have not been taking any particular medications. Two weeks ago I was on prescription zithromyacin for bronchitis resulting from the flu. So do you feel the bump will hopefully resolve on its own over a few days? Thank you again!
