What Causes A Lump On The Anus?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Jan 2017
Question: Hello, I have a large skin colored lump outside my anus. I have had it for probably a year with hardly any problems, but now it's start to really hurt and swell at times (I am 17 weeks pregnant). Would you happen to know what it is?

Brief Answer:
thank you so much for your question. I would love to help you with this

Detailed Answer:
Thank you so much for sending the picture along with your question. it was very helpful. what you have is a hemorrhoid. this is very common, especially in pregnancy when they often get worse. usually you can treat it with over the counter hemorrhoid treatments like preparation H. however if the pain becomes severe or if it turns purple, it may be "thombosed" which means that a blood clot developed inside. then it can be extremely painful and might require removal even during pregnancy. however, usually it will improve on its own after you have your baby. I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.
