What Causes A Lump On The Back?

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Apr 2017
Question: I have been an advocate weight lifter for almost 10 years., I have thin skin and a small frame so my bones protrude easily when flexing, I noticed on my upper right back where my clavical or shoulder blade is when I flex it, there protrudes a bump, but when I flex my left back muscles I do not see the same thing, however, I do notice muscle protrusions that are not even on both sides of my back, my husband looked at it and felt it and said it was just my muscle protruding when I flex. Occasionally especially after working out hard doing weight training the next day it will be sore, do you think this could be a tumor on my shoulder blade?

Brief Answer:
MRI scan will rule out any kind of masses or tumors . i think it could be a muscular sprain that will subside if you let it rest for sometime .

Detailed Answer:
Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns ..

I do not think it could be a tumor at all unless it increases in mass or increases in its pain progression . in my opinion it could be a muscular sprain .
I do not want you to be worried it is very normal that you find some kind of differentiation in both sides of your shoulders , it could happen with any one and even with other organs like hands , feet , eyes , ears .
You may try hot foments , gentle massages with topical anti inflammatory gels , muscle relaxants and relax for a couple of weeks from your vigorous exercises and if persists i recommend a MRI scan and visit your physician for proper evaluation and management to secure yourself from further complications .
