Question: Thanks. I have a lump on my right buttox which seems to have grown a little larger. I'm wondering if I might have been cleaning myself a little too well when I had the runs Saturday.

I live alone and tried to get a good look at the lump with a mirror and flashlight. I had boils on my face my XXXXXXX year in HS, which ended up with removal of a cyst from from right lower sinus cavity. This lump does NOT look that that did, but have had pain starting last night, which I got up from my recliner to go to the bathroom.

I have an appt next month with my family doctor, but thought maybe I could look up problem and see if I should try to get into see him sooner. About the size of a large jelly bean - had been size of a pea, for years.... It's not discolored XXXXXXX far as I can tell. It's located right where L & R button meet, so hurts when I walk, when I first sit down. If I slump a little that evidently takes the pressure off. Also hurt if lay on my right side while trying to sleep. Should I try warm compresses?

Brief Answer:
Try warm compress!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Given the long duration, it is unlikely to be an acute infection like an abscess for which a warm compress would have been ideal. However, I will still recommend that you go ahead and do so.

If the pain increases, call your doctor up early and see him. If it stays about the same, hold on and go on to see him as planned already.

I wish you well and keep me updated about this.

Well, guess the storms had everyone on Century Link, then today I was at the hospital with a friend who had a stoke.

My problem seems so small now, but know I need to keep a eye on things. A friend also suggested a hemorrhoidal cream, so I started that and it doesn't hurt as much. If keeps enlarging I'll see if possible to get into my family doctor before my scheduled appt.

I appreciate your info/help.

Brief Answer:
You are welcome!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your updates. I wish your friends a speedy recovery.

keep me updated with the progress of this lump. I don’t anticipate you run into trouble before your appointment but should this happen, do well to see your doctor then. Am not sure an antihemorrhoidal cream would be of great help. However, I will not ask that you stay away from it.

I wish you well.
