Question: Lower right area of left big toe has a sore, slightly protruding bone. Very painful and quite sore. As a Vet, it will take approximately three weeks to be seen. Any ideas of this problem?

Brief Answer:
Information and request for pictures

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

If the boney protrusion has been developing over a long period of time but just recently became sore (perhaps from irritation of the boney deformity against a shoe), it may be a bunion.

If what looks like a boney protrusion just came on rather suddenly, it could be something other than bone, and maybe gout. Depending on the cause, the treatment is different of course.

Hope I have answered your query.
