Hello Ms. XXXX,

Without being able to see the rash, I can't say with total certainty, but the location, where skin meets skin such as under the breasts and in skin folds, could be a yeast or fungal infection.

If the rash is hot and tender, it could be a bacterial infection such as cellulitis, which would be treated with an antibiotic, but as it is in more than one place, I think it is more likely to be yeast/fungus.

Treatment is an anti-yeast/anti-fungal cream such as clotrimazole. You can use this for 2 weeks. You can get it at most pharmacies without a prescription.

Since fungi like warm, dark, damp places, it is important to keep the areas dry. After bathing, XXXXXXX dry, then use a hair blow dryer on the lowest setting to dry these areas and other skin folds further. Also, wear a bra with very good support, and when not wearing a bra, put a piece of cloth between your breasts and skin to keep them from being in contact.

Avoid alcohol and a lot of sugary or refined starchy foods.

If the clotrimazole and other modifications do not help, or if the rash is getting painful or worsening (such as with skin break down) then do go in to see your doctor.

Shingles, as you know, doesn't have an odor, is extremely painful, and is confined to one region and not just skin-skin areas.

I hope this information helps. Again, I can't say for sure, but fungal infections are most likely given the location and it having an odor.
