What Causes A Recurrent Infected Cyst On Right Buttocks?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Jun 2015
Question: i have a reoccurring pimple that grows to a pus filled cyst in the exact same spot on my right buttocks. It seems to happen every 3 months or so. It starts small like any normal pimple, however, this one consistently grows into the puss filled cyst EVERY TIME! I can't seem to kill it when it is small or just forming. Again, it happens in nearly the exact same spot every time. What might this be and what can I use OTC to help? It gets painful when it gets larger.

Brief Answer:
incision and drainage best treatment but can try magnesium sulfate

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It sounds like an abscess which is a localized collection of pus. It can occur , in some persons , because of a recurrent or persistent infected cyst.

If the abscess is not incised and drained properly, a nidus of pus remains and because this small, often undetectable, infected area remains, then recollection of pus occurs.

An abscess becomes painful as it enlarges but normally when it discharges, the decrease in pressure causes pain reduction.

The best definitive treatment to prevent future episodes is incision and drainage at your doctors's office plus the use of antibiotics.

This is a small procedure that normally takes less than an hour

IF this is not possible at the moment then the use of magnesium sulfate paste may help.
This paste which should be available at your local pharmacy helps to draw out pus out of an infected area.

The use of this cream along with warm sitz baths may help. Salt can be added to the water

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
