What Causes A Red Blotchy Rash With White Spots On Knuckles?

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Jun 2015
Question: I have a white and red blotchy spot on my knuckles. It is a little itchy and has not gone away after about a week. Wondering what it is, originally thought it was just dry skin, but now I am thinking it may be something else. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
It could be due to fungal infection or contact dermatitis or psoriasis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Welcome to Healthcare magic. Thank you for posting your query. I can understand your concern. I have gone through the uploaded image.

It would have been great had I examined you on my own.
These lesions on your knuckle could be due to

- Fungal infection
- Contact dermatitis
- Psoriasis

Do you have any such lesions in any other part of your body like knees?

Do not worry.

I would start tablet allegra(180) .This will reduce the itching.

I would also start candid b ointment to apply locally.

I would suggest you to visit a dermatologist. He/she can examine you and correlate clinically.

Hope this helps.
Post any other question.
Regards.

No, this is the only place that this is occuring. It is also near my wedding band (as you can see the light colored skin where my ring was. My ring is white gold. Not sure that matters, but thought I would mention it. The darker red skin around the area seems slightly raised/inflamed - not very much raised at all, just like it is more swollen than anything. The itching is very minor as well and I don't really notice it at all unless I start to rub or scratch at it.
