What Causes A Red Rash With Itching On The Face?

Question: I woke with a burn like rash on face (eyelid, sides of nose, surrounding the mouth and one side of chin). No puss. It's itchy and feels like it is burning. It first appeared when I had double pneumonia, sinus infection and ear infection. I used the cream given by doc, desonide. It dried it up but skin was all flaky and I was unable to remove flakes. Used for 10 days as directed. What looked like burns did not go away as the redness was still quite visible but looked somewhat better and no longer burned. Two days after cream use ended it is back and worse than ever. It itches, burns and no relief. I have typically normal skin, some t zone oil but not much. There has been no new products used for face or laundry etc. Urgent care doc keeps telling me she does not know what it is. About five years ago maybe 8 I did have a Rosales spot dermatologist gave cream never had another. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes donor sure if this has anything to do with it.

Red rash with itching on face can be due to several conditions like allergy, eczema ,fungal infection, psoroasis etc.In your case since you had relief with a mild corticosteroid cream (desonide) and return of symptoms on stopping the medication, I strongly encourage the possibility of psoriasis which require treatment with more potent corticosteroid cream.
Some individuals develop skin rash in response to treatment for pneumonia.But usually this rash goes away once the treatment is completed.
