What Causes A Red Sore On The Head Of The Penis?

Question: After a particularly vigorous round of masturbation last Friday or so I found my penis head was sore and red, with what was a tiny wound. I left off it and washed it in the shower and have been applying Man1 Man oil to it as I read it was good for the skin and would help heal it. I've also been applying Bio-oil to the small wound as it appears to have left something of a very faint scar (if it even is a scar, it's barely noticeable). Since then the soreness has disappeared and it no longer hurts but it is still red and is starting to worry me. I read that it usually takes a week for it to disappear but it is approaching a week and the redness does not seem to have gone down much (though probably a little). I doubt it's a fungal infection as it occurred after masturbation, isn't itchy and nothing looks infected so I think I may have to wait it out and continue applying Man1 and hope it goes down. The issue is that I have a frenuloplasty scheduled for Monday so I'm also wondering if that would be a bad idea with this in mind, and if I should seek out a urologist or dermatologist instead of waiting for it to disappear.

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have developed redness and soreness of the glans penis following vigorous masturbation .

This is mainly due to infection of glans penis (Ballanitis) and trivial injury to glans resulting out of rough handling and shaking of penis during masturbation.

You need to take broad spectrum antibiotic like Cefixime along with anti inflammatory drug like Diclofenac twice daily.along with topical antibiotic ointment like Neosporin twice daily.

Ensure to wash your genitals with microbial solution Betadine twice daily

Ensure to avoid sexual activity till it heals up completely.

Postpone Frenuloplasty for the time being till it gets cured completely.

A couple questions:

1. How should I apply Betadine? Just around the red area of the head? Should I let it dry?

2. Should I apply Neosporin when I apply Betadine or should I try and space them out?

I don't think I'll be able to get a visit with a urologist anytime soon (last one took almost a month) so I'll make do with whatever over the counter stuff I can for now (I'm using ibuprofen as an antinflammatory, not nearly as strong but all I've got for now since I don't think there are many over the counter ones stronger).

Betadine is to be diluted in warm water and the glans penis has to be wiped with Betadine solution gently with cotton Then apply Neosporin .This has to be done twice daily

You can take brufen till you manage to get proper drugs .
