Question: My son has a dime sized lump behind his ear. It has little tiny blisters on it. Do you know what this is?

I have gone through your query and have checked the attached image. There are two possibilities to consider. Firstly, it could be an enlarged post-auricular lymph node. If that is the case, it could arise if some surrounding soft tissue infection drains into it. A clinical evaluation is essential. Secondly, it could be a swelling of the parotid gland which is usually located just below the ear. It does not seem to be the case but once again a closer look is needed. Other possibilities are lipoma (a fibrofatty tumor), sebaceous cyst (when the opening of an oil secreting gland gets blocked) or a dermoid cyst.
