What Causes A Small Red Area On The Side Of The Tip Of Penis?

Question: Hi,
I noticed one morning as I was urinating that my penis had a red area on the side of the tip. It does not hurt, and it doesn't appear to be coming to a head, But it has been there for 4 days.
What could it be?
PS, I have only had sex with my wife.

It is looking like fungal infection.
I treat such cases with topical antifungal cream like clotrimazole.
It is safe and effective and gives good response within a week.
