What Causes A Small White Spot On The Right Tonsil?

default
Posted on Wed, 14 Sep 2016
Question: I have a small white dot on my right tonsil. Not painful. I have had chronic allergies all my life and just found out I have Lyme Disease. I've had blood work done in the past 2 weeks and CBC was excellent along with everything else. The Western Blot conformed the Lyme. Attached is a picture. Is this something I should watch or have biopsied? I feel OK other than some Lyme symptoms. Dr. checked glands and throat just a month ago and didn't see anything bad so I don't know when this popped up. Attached is a picture for review. I'm hoping it's a tonsil stone or just a result of antibiotics or PND...Any insight would be appreciated

Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on the image you uploaded and your history, this is unlikely to be a malignant lesion.

Such white spots are most commonly seen after a healed tonsil infection i.e tonsillitis. In my view, there is no need to worry about it for now. It can be observed for a month or so.

If you are worried then a tonsillectomy would offer a more accurate result than a deep tonsil biopsy.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks

I'm not really worried about anything tonsil related...if they ever need to be removed...so be it...I'm more concerned about it being something in the cancer family as I do dip tobacco....like I said nothing was noticed by my dr a few weeks ago...I have also had a barium swallow and endoscope done in the last 2 months...if it does appear malignant at the moment I will just keep an eye on it for a bit...trying to just ease my mind
