What Causes A Soft Lump At The Back Of Head On The Right?
Question: HI, I am a 44 year old female, who had stroke like symptoms on 11.30.15;however, the whole month of Dec and up to date. I have been suffering with anxiety and hypertension. To relieve this pain I listen to music and exercise. As I was getting my son to massage my scalp today , he found a soft , squishy spot in the back right area of my head. For 22 years now, I have been wearing weave with hair glue, being I lost most of my hair, early in age. I have been having migranes and severe anxiety. Once I felt this spot, the sensations are appearing to come from this area. Please, help me!!! What is going on?

Well, I can certainly understand, given your recent stroke like event, and current problems with migraines, why you would be concerned. It is hard to tell without being able to both see and feel this lump in person, but do know that scalps can get these things and they are usually benign. It's possible that there was an irritation or some mild trauma to the area, which formed a bit of swelling, or for a fatty growth to form there (lipoma). The scalp can also form cherry angiomas (benign) which are like the strawberry spots people sometimes get on their chests and back and elsewhere, and these are soft and squishy.
Anytime there is any kind of swelling or growth on the scalp it can be tender. Possibly the glue irritated it. Most of these sorts of things are benign. But do go in to be seen so that someone can look and see what it is exactly.

Dr., you are correct. The glue was tangled on a strand of hair which caused a pulling sensation in my head , down my spine, to my lumbar area. I have cut all that mess off my head. You can see me , any given day, passing with a honey blonde detachable wig, being I have alopecia. Nomore. However, the headache seems to be gone. Now, I gotta deal with severe anxiety. Any suggestions?

What medications and supplements are you taking? And have there been any significant changes to your diet or any significant things that are going on in your life that may be giving you distress?
