My appetite has change to where I don't feel like eating or if I do I eat very little. I can't say that I have lots weight either. I feel bloated and have gas. This started after Christmas. This week I have diarrhea with cramps. At night if I lay on my left side I will wake up with cramps and then diarrhea. What could this be?

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Pain abdomen and cramos with altrrnate bowel habits and epigastric and chest pain and reduced appetite since christmas with bloating and distension points towards an irritable bowel syndrome. But as it is a diagnosis of exclusion you Will need workup to prove it by ruling out other possibilities like stomach flu, lactose or gluten intolerance , diverticulosis etc.
You need workup like stool exam , blood workup and if need be endoscopies and colonoscopies. Meanwhile diet and lifestyle modifications will help. Eat small frequent meals. Avoid spices ,stimulants ,alcohol, soda, beverages , processed and canned products fatty foods, foods that contain processed meals foods rich in monosodium glutamate, foods that can irritate the bowel like tea/coffee , alcohol etc. Prefer a diet rich in fiber and fluids take more natural products like fruits and vegitables prefer yogurt with peppermint as the former is the best probiotic and the later is the best anti spasmodic nature has provided. I would like you to follow the diet lifestyle modifications for a week and see how it goes. if the problem persists then you will have to talk to your doctor and let them sort it out for you.
I hope it helps take good care of yourself please and don't forget to close the discussion please.
