Question : I have a question, i have had pretty normal blood work besides my platelets being a little elevated and my CRP being elevated. Would colorectal cancer show in my normal CBC if something was wrong? Wouldnt my blood work be all over the place? I have had off and on bleeding occasionally when i go to the bathroom for 2 years. I do have some hemmoroids occasionally and that is what i thought this was. I had my gallbladder removed 4 years ago and i get a lot of diarrhea when i eat certain fats and bloating.
Brief Answer:
There can be many reasons for elevated crp
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. The normal platelet counts varies from 1.5 to 4.5 lacs and can vary fron person to person, in the same day from time to time even in same person. Also mild spill beyond this range is well. Acceptable due to the differential rates of platelet breakdown and new cells formation. We usually donot find it abnormal if the platelet are upto 1lac or upto 5.5 lacs. Similarly any stress,. Mild infection or inflammation can raise the crp and you should not worry.
Colon cancer wont show in blood picture. Easiest way to rule out is by a full colonoscopy.
Thanks and regards

So no blood work would show something is going on or my body is fighting cancer? I would think my wbc or low platets or something if i was fighting cancer.
Brief Answer:
Hello dear. Nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. Blood work wont show colon cancer as i said earlier. It will only show anemia and that can be due to various reasons like hemorrhoids.
Thanks and regards
