Question : I have irritation in the anus soft bowels kind of a bloated feeling and when I wipe I see small particles. I also have gas particularly at night but some during the day. I thought maybe because my dog was found to have tape worms maybe I contracted them but there's no signs of that.

The symptoms you are experiencing can either be due to parasitic infestation like a tapeworm or viral/bacterial gastroenteritis.

Tapeworm infestation occurs in adults from beef, fork or rarely from pets.
Stool microscopy for parasites and eggs, stool analysis and culture are required as the initial evaluation.

Please be advised to follow up with your primary care provider for further evaluation and management.

Meanwhile, drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated.
You can use Buscopan 10 mg thrice daily for pain.
You can also take loperamide (Imodium) 2mg after every episode of loose stools. The maximum dose of up to 16 mg of Imodium a day is recommended.
If tapeworm infection is confirmed, then treatment with Praziquantel will be started to clear up the parasite.
