default
Posted on Fri, 21 Oct 2016
Question: Beginning oi the late afternoon, after a snack of popcorn and non-alcoholic beer, I became bloated and was not able to digest my dinner. The bloating was accompanied by pain that seem localized in my back and left kidney. I am constipated but am able to urinate regularly.

Are the symptoms I've described indicative of a problem with an organ such as my appendices or gall bladder?

Brief Answer:
likely because of acute gastritis with indigestion.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

I have read your query and understand the concern about indigestion.

From the facts you have shared here,I would like to say that symptom of bloating with localized pain is likely because of acute gastritis with indigestion, the first possibility I will think in your case. And it is very unlikely because of appendix or gall bladder.

At present, I would suggest you to try some symptomatic over the counter medications with STRICT dietary precautions. This may give you some relief.

1) Take over the counter antacids tablets like Tab.Pantoprazole 40mg or Tab.Rabiprazole 20mg with Tab.Gas-X (generic name: Simethicone) twice daily.

Avoid taking over the counter pain killers like ibuprofen which you are taking. It may further cause gastric trouble and bloating.

2) Take syrup Digene 2 TSF two times a day if you have gastric burning.

Syrup Cremaffin plus 3TSF at a bed time for constipation.

3) Take Digestive enzymes (like Unienzyme or pancreatin once daily which is available over the counter) will also be helpful in the digestion of carbohydrates.

4) Avoid eating full stomach, instead take small meals.

5) Avoid complex carbohydrates like beans, potato and carbonated beverages and milk based products which are hard to digest.

6) Drink plenty of water and fruit juices. Avoid hot, oily and spicy foods and prefer HOME food. Take soft diet only for initial few days.

With above symptomatic treatment and dietary precautions,we would expect to see some improvement within 1 or 2 days.

But in case if problem persists longer or even after above precautions, then it would be advisable to see physician or gastro-physician for further evaluation..

Hope this detailed explanation will be helpful.
