Question : I have been experiencing abdominal gas, have had several bowel movements today and have a soreness in my back both under my shoulder blades and my lower back. I have a family history of aortic aneurysm, both my mother, father and a brother had one. I am generally in good health and have a well controlled blood pressure with medication. My cholesterol is also well controlled. My regular doctor is not in the office on the weekend I don't feel real sick just uncomfortable, sore and gassy. There is no shortness of breath just a fullness in my abdomen.

Brief Answer:
EKG, Ultrasound can be advised based on clinical suspicion

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

AAAs can be detected clinically with presence of a pulsatile abdominal mass on examination of the abdomen. EKG and ultrasound can be done to look for cardiac cause or an aneurysm of the aorta. If none are found then PPIs like esomeprazole, sucralfate, antacids and metoclopramide can be prescribed to adequately treat the GERD to see for improvement as its the likely cause.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
