Question : I have numbness in my lower abdominal region. What can be the cause?

                                    Brief Answer:
More information is needed.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Numbness is almost always a nerve involvement symptom.
In your case, there is need for more information about numbness location ( left, right or middle ), distribution ( as a band for example ), duration, any previous health issues etc. in order to have a better understanding of your condition.
Two most possible conditions that may give rise to lower abdomen numbness are peripheral neuropathy and upper lumbar spine degenerative or herniated disc disease.
Local nerves involvement such compression after abdominal surgery is possible too.
Awaiting for more information.......

it is located in the middle lower abdominal region...I was involved in a minor traffic accident and the location is where the seat belt strap rests. The numbness occurred soon after the accident. It is a band type of numbness. The right and left sides are fine. No previous health problems.

                                    Brief Answer:
Local trauma responsible for numbness.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for being on follow up.
In this case, local trauma ( compression by seatbelt ) is the cause of numbness due to contusion of small underskin nerves.
There is no need to worry, numbness will subside with time.
You could use supplements such as complex B vitamins to speed up recovery.
Local application of capsaicin cream for example could relieve your symptoms.
Hope I helped you.
Best regards.
