What Causes Abdominal Pain Along With Headache In A Child?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Feb 2015
Question: my daughter is 10 years old. She has had a headache and stomach ache for a while now. Today she also has a sore throat. We have been to the doctor several times. She has had head MRI and it was clear. She has had problems with her stomach since she was an infant - and goes through phases with it - irritable bowel. I am at a loss. I am wondering if this may be allergies - we have a cat and it's very cold here so the heater has been running. It is an electric furnace so no carbon monoxide. I gave her allergy medication and ibuprophen this morning. Any suggestions. Thank you

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms XXXXXXX

Pain in abdomen is unlikely to be due to allergy. One of the most commonest cause for recurrent abdominal pain in children is constipation.

It would be very helpful if you could provide me following additional information for me to be able to assist you further

1. Where is exact location of pain?

2. Is there associated loss of appetite?

3. Does she have regular bowel movements?

4. Does she have any urinary complaints?

In the meantime I would suggest you the following

1. Antispasmodic like Drotavarine will help

2. Ensure adequate intake of water

3. Liquid antacid will help

Awaiting your response
