Posted on Thu, 12 Mar 2015
Question: Since the last 2 or 3 years I seem to have following symtoms,
1. Feel empty pangs many times in a day and need to eat a small snack
2. Get a slight pain in my abdomen if I have not eaten for long or eaten even slightly spicy food
3.Feel sluggish soon after I am up in the morning. Is it acidity because I feel better when I have a Pantocid. Do I have to get a sonography of abdomen done ?

Brief Answer:
Yes your symptoms are due to increased acidity

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.

Yes, you are symptoms are due to increased acidity only.
You might be probably having an ulcer which is responsible for causing the symptoms like hunger pangs and slight abdominal pain when if you have not eaten for a long time or eaten even slightly spicy food.
This is confirmed by the fact that you feel better when you take Pantocid.
Ultrasound scan of the abdomen is not the right test to diagnose acidity related issues.
You can get an upper GI endoscopy done to confirm it. Till then you can take Pantocid.
Feeling sluggish after you wake up could be due to improper/disturbed sleep due to acidity related issues.

I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.
