Question : Hi my 7 year old daughter has been complaining about her sides hurting almost to the point if tears. I gave her motrin and pain seems better. She has now vomited 3 times, but no fever. A tried a heat pad for her sides too and that seems to have helped as well. Looking for suggestions as to what could be wrong with her. She was fine till today.
Brief Answer:
Motrin induced gastiritis
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
I need a few more details in order to help you better
1. When say sides, can you please help me locate where exactly the pain is. Lower back ( right of left), abdomen ( upper, lower or middle) right or left. As pain is specific for different organs
2. Any fever?
3. The pain dull aching or pricking in nature
Motrin can cause severe gastritis which could have caused the vomiting, other reason could be pain itself. I recommend that you give her Tab Omeprzole before food for the vomiting as of now
Please get back to me, I am awaiting your reply
Regards

When she says sides she is talking the middle abdomen area, and both sides. There is no fever and the pain has gotten better but was a sharp pain.
She is also now stating her belly hurts.

Brief Answer:
Could be colitis

The symptoms could be colitis ( infection of the intestines) probably secondary to something she ate, however a close differential around that area would be appendicitis as well. Here is what you should do
1. The ideal pain killer for this type of pain would be Tab Hyoscine Butylbromide. It will relieve her of the pain well
2. Do not give her any milk or milk products until the pain is completely gone.
3. Give her only warm food and beverages. It should not be spicy.
4. Watch out for fever and diarrhea
5. Plain yoghurt 3 tsp three times a day should also help
If the pain increases in intensity please take her to the doctor immediately
Regards
