What Causes Abdominal Pain On The Right Side?

default
Posted on Wed, 14 Dec 2016
Question: I just got out of the ER last night. I have severe pain to the right side of my abdomen in the middle of my stomach. There was a CT scan, but nothing showed up but a fat deposit. Could the fat deposit cause pain? The pain killers they gave me (morphine) only took half of the pain away. It was still at a level 5 when I came in with a pain level of 8. What could this be?
It hurts to yawn, cough, sneeze, take a deep breath, talk too long without taking a breath.

Brief Answer:
Could be due to costochondritis.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. The exact location for the pain is very important. It matters whether the pain overlies the bones (ribs) or is it deep seated. A clinical examination would yield valuable information in that regard. The pain could be due to costochondritis, an inflammation of the cartilage of the lower ribs. It could also be due to gastritis. I would insist you to upload the ultrasound report since the exact disposition of the fat deposition is important, although I doubt if that could be a possible cause of the pain.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
