Question: Yesterday i had a colonoscopy A 11 mm polyp was removed. No bleeding when i defecate. The doctor told me NOt to lift anything above 5 pounds. I did lift 3 luggage weighing 40 pounds each after that i have pain in the regiĆ³n where the polyp was rewmoved. The question is Could the site where they took out the polyp have reopened? How can i know igf the pain is caused by the lifting of the luggage 30 hours after polypectomy?

Brief Answer:
pain is due to colonoscopy procedure itself

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thanks for putting your query in hcm
Usually after there is mild pain after removal of polyp that too due to colonoscopy only. Since polyp is removed from the mucosa, cutting of that does not cause pain. Only distension of the intestine causes pain. After colonoscopy pain is due to distension of intestine as air is insufflated during the procesure which usually subsides within few days. However the reason your doctor ask for not lifting weight is due to risk of bleeding which can occur even after 7 days of polypectomy. For pain I will suggest you to take some antispasmodic like drotavarine on sos basis. You can take up to 3 tablets per day. However if still pain dont subsides with in a day or so then revisit your doctor. I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. Wish you agood health.

I have defectaed normally. No blood. So that would suggest there in no bleeding or that the wouond reopened because i lifted the luggage? could the pain be Wall perforation of the intestines because of the colonocopy?

Brief Answer:
does not appear to perforation as there is no fever or abdominal distension

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

If there would have been perforation your doctor who has done colonoscopy must have noticed at that time only. Also perforation do lead to fever severe abdominal pain, abdominal distension. Which are not here . Even after lifting weight these are not there so it does not appear to be perforation at least. But if you are still in doubt revisit your doctor or to ER and get your abdominal examination and xray abdomen to confirm.

Wish you a good health
