Question : Hi I have been suffering with some abdominal swelling for a few months and since the last week or so some abnormal bleeding.i have been advised by an out of hours doctor that I need ny GP to refer me for a scan to check for a cyst on the ovaries .I would like to know if I do have a cyst how this may affect my partner and if anything can be transferred through intercourse. If the cyst contains fluid is it possible for this to leak and if so how could this affect my partner?
Brief Answer:
adnexal mass possibly.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
Abdomial swelling and abnormal bleeding without any accompanied pain or pressure symptoms and the swelling not apparently growing in size can be sub mucous fibroid, adnexal masses like endometriotic cyst , or a simple ovarian cyst. This shall need an ultrasound pelvis for diagnosis and the adnexal mass or cyst will not affect your partner in anyways as there would be no connection with the vagina and even if there is a rupture cyst inside the pelvic cavity , it wilt flow through the vagina and affect your partner. So get yourself evaluated for establishing the cause sooner.
