What Causes Abnormal Breathing In An Infant While Crying?

It is quite common for hurried respiration after crying
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day
Dear Mr Lalwani,
Crying is associated with expiration( expelling out of air from lungs). So when babies cry for whatever reason for longer time, to make up for deficit of air, they inspire air at longer. Sometimes the breathing may momentarily be standstill. If it is not associated with bluish discolouration of lips then there seems to be no cause for concern.
If the following criteria are fulfilled then there is no cause for concern
1. Absence of bluish discolouration of lips
2. Breathing normal once the baby has stopped crying
3. Baby is now accepting feeds well
4. Baby is sleeping well after feeds
Rest be assured there is no cause for concern.
Best Regards
Dr Deepak

It is normal crying spell in baby
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mr Lalwaniji
Going by your history there seems to be no reason fro concern. It is a normal crying spell in an infant. Discolouration of face is due to congestion associated with prolonged bout of crying.
Rest be assured everything looks fine based on history.
Take care bro

baby would require warm cuddle
Detailed Answer:
Dear Mr Lalwani
Babies cry for various reasons. If the baby is sleeping during day adequately then there is no cause for concern.
I would consider the following reasons
1. Baby is feeling too hot or cold during night:
Your baby may hate having his nappy changed or being bathed. He may not be used to the feeling of cold air on his skin and would rather be bundled up and warm. But you will soon learn how to perform a quick nappy change if this is the case.
Take care not to overdress your baby, or he may become too hot. He will generally need to wear one more layer of clothing than you to be comfortable.
2. Baby is too tired :
Often, babies find it hard to get to sleep, particularly if they are over-tired. You will soon become aware of your baby's sleep cues. Whining and crying at the slightest thing, staring blankly into space, and going quiet and still are just three examples.
If your baby has received a lot of attention and cuddles from doting visitors, he may become over-stimulated. Then, when it comes to sleeping, he'll find it hard to switch off and settle. Take your baby somewhere calm and quiet to help him to settle down.
3. Baby needs something to soothe :
Your baby will need lots of cuddling, physical contact and reassurance to comfort him. So it may be that he just wants to be held. Try a baby sling to keep him close to you, perhaps swaying and singing to him while you hold him.
You may be worried about spoiling your baby if you hold him too much. But during the first few months of his life that's not possible.
4. Colic pain
Sometimes you might not be able to figure out what's wrong when your baby cries. Many newborns go through patches of fretfulness and are not easily comforted. The unhappiness can range from a few minutes of hard-to-console crying to several hours at a stretch, an almost constant state of crying that is sometimes called colic. Colic is defined as inconsolable crying for at least three hours a day, for at least three days a week.
I hope by these description you will be able to figure out what's wrong with the baby.
Take care
