                                    Brief Answer:
When was the IUD removed ?
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Welcome to healthcaremagic..
I have gone through your question carefully and also understood your concern.
Removal of Mirena IUD can cause severe bleeding(also called withdrawal bleed) for few days which is a normal phenomenon.
Also menstrual irregularities are common and your menstrual cycle gradually gets regular over few weeks...
Please answer the below questions to enhance my answer...
1)For what indication, the Mirena IUD was inserted ?
2)When was the IUD removed ?
I would also advise you to monitor your vitals if bleeding is severe and seek medical attention if needed..
Hope this answers your query..Further follow up queries are welcome..
Regards

It hasn't been removed. I had it inserted to reduce or stop menstrual bleeding. It wasn't ever very severe but i do have pcos and at times it was uncomfortable. The iud effectively stopped any periods except for maybe a half day of light spotting. Other than the bleeding i have felt fine except for cramping .

Gynecologist opinion.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again..
Thank you for following up..
I feel sorry that couldn't solve your concern early ..
Unusual increased menstrual bleeding may indicate possible chances for displacement( partial or complete expulsion of IUD) or infection at IUD site..
Your abdominal cramps could be a possible sign for any of that..
When did you check your IUD position lastly ?
I would advise you to visit a gynecologist to check the position of the inserted IUD,by ultrasound.
Also you can check for the blood concentration of the hormone to check whether the IUD works...
So in conclusion,IUD failure has to be ruled out first.
Hope i have answered your query. Please feel free to ask further questions if any..
Wish you a good health
Regards
