What Causes Abnormal Vaginal Spotting With Lightheadedness And Stomach Bloating?

Question: Hello,
I have been taking Trinessa for 5 years. This month, I have taken a few pills late (no later than one hour) and doubled up once in the beginning of the month and once during the third week. I do not use any other form of birth control and have had unprotected sex. Exactly one week before I was supposed to start my period, I began spotting. However, it was not the same as a normal period. It was a different color, no clots, light so I did not have to use tampons, but it lasted 7 days (it stopped the day of my expected period). I am now 7 days passed that "expected" period and have been experiencing cramps like my period is about to come, am lightheaded, very bloated, can fall asleep anywhere, have lower back pain, heartburn, my breasts are now becoming very tender, and I am extemely emotional. (This all resembles pms symptoms except the heartburn). One of the first pregnancy tests I took had an immediate, VERY faint line that later darkened, but the rest of the pregnancy tests I have taken this past week have all come back negative. Could I be pregnant, or is this a side effect from the pill? This has never happened before. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
PREGNANCY LESS LIKELY, TAKE A BLOOD PREGNANCY TEST

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
In my opinion, the side effects and the ' period ' that deviated from normal , are all because of 2 missed pills and the doubling dose you consequently took.
Taking a pill late by less an hour should not matter.
I would have categorically said that you are not pregnant, but , for the fact that you mention that you had a faintly positive test.
In view of equivocal urine tests, it is recommended that you get a blood B HCG pregnancy test done.
Also, continue taking your pills as usual, without skipping any pill.
All the best
