Not a preferred option

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Welcome to HCM. I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Hypothyroidism can result in weight gain. Only weight gained due to hypothyroidism is lost after thyroxine treatment. If your thyroid function reports are currently normal, there won’t be much weight reduction further with thyroxine.

Garcinia Cambogia has got nothing to do with your hypothyroidism. Still I won’t suggest you this extract for weight reduction due to:

1. Benefits on weight reduction is not great. Less than 5% is the maximum weight reduction expected. Studies on this extract on weight reduction haven’t shown any promising results.

2. There are some concerns of liver damage associated with this medication.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Brief Answer:
Lifestyle modifications, medications

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Welcome back. I understand your concerns.

There are 3 option s for weight reduction

1. Lifestyle modification - frequent small feeds - low in calorie and high in fiber, regular aerobic exercise of 30 minutes a day for at least 6 days a week.

2. Medications - like orlistat, locaserin, phentermine/topiramate which are approved for weight reduction. Please discuss with the doctor if these can be used in your case

3. Surgical procedures - Usually we suggest surgery for patients who cant meet target weight in 6 months with above 2 measures. Simple procedures like gastric banding or complex like gastric bypass can make desirable weight loss.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
