I'm also not very sure if this is actually a case of Thyroid Problem or is it a case of clinical error? Is it OK if i stop Thyroid for some time and get TSH test done?
Good you thought about this
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I would like to thank you for understanding the problem and know what is going on. There is a problem and I can not really say that there was a clinical error as the detailed history by the patient, relevant questions by your Physician, detailed clinical examination all matter in deciding.
You are absolutely right.
Since your T3 and T4 were / are normal you may not need the supplements at all.
These are produced by the Thyroid gland alone.
TSH is produced by the gland called pituitary , which is situated under the brain in the skull. It is just marginally increased and indicates Pituitary's response to the
circulating Thyroid Hormones, may be due to many known and unknown factors like hypoproteinemia and so on.
Acidity, bowels sensation very frequently, frequent urine passage through out the day causing lot of inconvenience can be caused by Thyronorm 25 as the dose may be more than actually required by the body.
In consultation with a Physician or Endocrinologist, you may please stop Thyronorm, repeat FT3, FT4 and TSH after 1 month. During this period take protein supplements, correct the Vitamin D insufficiency by taking Cacilrol XXXXXXX - one weekly.
Observe the benefits and problems keenly, note them down on paper date-wise.
Occasionally we do advise Contrast enhanced MRI of the Pituitary if the TSH is high and T3 and T4 are normal.
I hope this helps you to get a better life.
