During and shortly after then menstrual period, testosterone levels are usually higher than at other times in the cycle, and testosterone can increase the likelihood of acne beak outs. If this is the cause for you, then you may see a pattern of break outs every cycle around that time.
Some women break out around ovulation (approximately 2 weeks into the cycle) or shortly before their periods. Others may break out during or shortly after the period.
