Question : Hi. Last night I awoke with sharp pains on my right side at about the kidney area when I breathe in. I also had pain on the same side at the front of my shoulder. Today (7 hours later) my stomach still hurts when I breathe in deeply, but the shoulder pain is gone. I still have regular looking BMs and urine. Is this possibly serious? Is there something I should be watching out for?

Brief Answer:
Ultrasound abdomen will give a clue.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
It is better to get an Ultrasound abdomen along with urine tests.
Simple infection of the kidney can produce these symptoms.
Nothing to worry.
I prescribe Antibiotic like Levofloxacin and Paracetamol tablet to my patients with similar complaints.
Please consult your doctor and proceed accordingly.
Nothing to worry.
If you have any queries, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
