Question : I was about a month late for my period and started yesterday. This came out in my period and i have never seen anything like this in my cycle before .. It looks and feels like tissue not a clot . Is this normal and what is it? My flow has been pretty high and bright red .

thanks for the query to hcm,
This appears to be a decidua and a possible gestational sac of an undiagnosed pregnancy. You may get a serum beta hcg test as on today to rollout pregnancy right away because if the hcg levels are higher than 5ng/dl then this is a missed pregnancy and what you are experiencing is a miscarriage.

I took three pregnancy tests though throughout the month , as early as last week and all said negative.

Hello,
The urine pregnancy test can only give a positive result only if the levels of hcg are more then 1500IU and hence if the pregnancy stopped growing before 4 weeks then urine test may not show a positive result. Hence the serum beta hcg which can detect hcg as low as 1ng/dl.
So no harm getting it done. If negative then we can be sure that this is not a miscarriage and the tissue like shed which has come out is likely to be thickened endometrium and not a foetal tissue at all.
