Brief Answer:
Various causes

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but stomach upset could be due to gastritis or GERD or coudlnbe a side effect of your blood pressure medication.. however, you should try to take omeprazol once daily together with ranitidine before every meal for one week to relieve any possible gastritis or GERD. you should also try not to take your blood pressure medication on an empty stomach, if no relieve occurred then you will need to take a test for h.pylori infection..
Also if atenolol is not effective in lowering your blood pressure then you should refer to your doctor to either increase the dose or replace it with a calcium channel blocker.

I hope you find this helpful.
