Question : My son thinks he may have seen something small and white on toilet paper after going to the bathroom. We are not sure if this is mucous or a pinworm. There is anal itching. He's 10 and doesn't want his mom to look. Help!

Thanks for writing on HealthCareMagic. Since there is peri-anal itchiness, there is a possibility of pinworm. It is better to play safe as many children of this age may have worm infestations. You may give him Albendazole (available in many brand names like Noworm, Brandy) 400 mg 1 tablet today at bedtime and repeat the dose after a fortnight. This is a prescription drug, please get it prescribed by his doctor.

I think that things would be fine sooner.
