Question: Hi over the last few days my anus has become very sore and felt like I kept needing to go toilet, I'm getting a burning stinging feeling when I try to now and since yesterday have noticed a couple of open spots/sores that are very painful. I have been with the same partner for 3 years but did have anal sex at the weekend which may of activated something.

Brief Answer:
Anal fissure.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Can you please attach an image of the anus?

Most probable reason of your symptoms is anal fissure. Its a kind of wound in the rectum. It can be caused by constipation, hard stool, pushing hard on stool or even anal intercourse.
Most of such wounds heal without medical attention. However if it lasts for longer than a week should be checked by proctologist.

I suggest you to try such treatment first:
- have sitz baths with Oak Bark twice a day for 7 days
- use OTC hemorrhoids suppositories
- wash your rectum after every stool
- do not push hard on stool
- start fiber intake

This should help in a week or so. If not, please consult proctologist.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Ok, I'm really worried it is herpes but have never had this before and haven't changed partners, my partner has no signs and I don't have it anywhere else. I have attached image, you can see a couple red/white lumps which are very sore to touch, doesn't look like tears, there must be more inside as its so sore to go to toilet. Symptoms started on Monday and have got worse and we had sex on Friday night.

Brief Answer:
Fissure seems more probable.

Detailed Answer:
The main problem with fissure is that its invisible. The tear is inside. That is why strong pain appears when the stool is passing. Bumps are not characteristic for fissure. Bumps are usually present in case of viral infection. So herpes is one possibility.
However your symptoms indicate fissure more than herpes. So please try the mentioned above treatment first. If it wont help, than consult proctologist.
