Question : I was prescribed levofloxacin 500mg tablets - 1 daily for ten days. I took the last tablet last Thursday and developed severe pain in both ankles yesterday. is the symptom related to the medication and what should I do?

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Incidentally levofloxacin is known to cause the adverse effect of tendinitis and you should stop it immediately, else it can lead to achilles tendon rupture.

Bring the condition to immediate notice of your treating physician and report adverse effect to proper authorities if there is a scope. As such no interventions need to be taken as the process usually reverses spontaneously on stoppage of use of the medicine.
