Brief Answer: it is mainly anxiety, & can be treated adequately Detailed Answer: hello and welcome to HCM! Your symptoms are suggeestive of anxiety disorder..nothing you mentioned points specifically towards bipolar..so, its mainly anxiety at present. You have not metioned if you take any medicne for this, so i assume that you never took any drugs. Symptoms like- difficulty in concentrating properly and feeling exhausted, sleeping problems and headaches - all these are interelated and can be managed. so, there is nothing serious about them. I usually prefer prescribing venalafaxine in such cases. This takes care of headaches, anxiety and even improves appetite to some extent. For sleep you may need zolpidem 12.5mg for some days initially and later it can be safely stopped. For severe headaches one can take - voveran 100mg or naxdom 500mg on SOS basis. This will provide the necessary rest to neurons and help in speedy recovery. Your complaint of loosing tract of thoughts is due to anxiety and will be solved. It is wise to get basic blood test alongwith thyroid levels. Hope the reply helps you please feel free to ask more questions for clarification Dr. Manisha Gopal MD Psychiatry

Im not sure what those drugs are but I will look into it thank you. I do have these times when I get it into my head that I can do anything at all and everything, during these times I tend to compulsively spend money and sleep a lot less. I also have periods where I am severely depressed. Is that all the same anxiety disorder as well?

Brief Answer: is it along with overconfidence, dominating action Detailed Answer: Hello, The point that you have compusive spending habit on and off with high mood may be related to bipolar. What is the duration of your mood fluctuation? is it for some hours or for days together? Do you feel good when you spend extra money, and if you have feeling of dominating others plus over confidence at the same time? If it is yes to these questions then it is possibly a bipolar disorder. ( there can.be high similarity between anxiety and bipolar and needs careful and detailed evaluation). It is advisable to take drug for such disorders as with each passing month without treatment the illness increases. The drugs are not addictive but actually very helpful. The myths in society that the medicines are just sedative are very wrong and due to them the precious time in which the disorder can be controlled effectively is lost. I hope you will look into the above points and start moving towards the treatmnet part. Wish you good luck. Please feel free to ask more questions for clarification. Dr. Manisha Gopal MD Psychiatry
