Question: I broke my humerus bone 20 yrs ago and these last 3 months my arm has been hurting every night
I wear a pain patch in order for it to stop
I had a very cumbersome break straight across it took 16-20 weeks to heal

Thank you for posting your question to HCM.

The fact that the patch stops the pain is positive. But if its hurting more then 3 months and you had an old fracture there, are signs that tell that that pain needs to get investigated.
If I was your caring doctor I would surely suggest to investigate more. Will need first a physical exam from a doctor- he will check for where does the pain come from, is there anything visibly not normal, does the bone or the joint hurt when its touched, how is the movement, ect.
Next will need an Xray and if it doesnt give much information more imaging labs may be needed.

The tretment of pain would be the same: Ibuprofen 400-600 mg 2-3 times day. But the cause need ti get found a treated. Continue with the patches or use an analgesic cream.
