default

Question: I'm passing some blood, and having back pain. Could I have a kidney stone or infection? Should I just start with a urine test? Or do you recommend an ultrasound immediately?

Brief Answer: Start with urine analysis. Detailed Answer: Hello! Thank you for the query. Kidney stone gives sudden, strong back pain which radiates to the lower abdomen or groin. The pain can come and go. Urinary tract infection gives mild pain, which starts gradually. Fever can be present. Both conditions give frequent urinating, burning while urinating and blood in urine. I suggest you to start with urine analysis. Antibiotics should be prescribed for infection. In both cases you should increase mineral water intake and start cranberries supplementation. Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regards.
