Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care questions

Your wife has been having urination problems for a while and despite all testing the doctors have not found the problem. From your history I would say that your wife is having bladder spasms. These spasms can occur after urinating and last for an hour. To help reduce these spasms I would recommend a medication that will reduce bladder spasms like Detrol. She would have to return to her physician and ask for the medication. She may also have interstitial cystitis which is irritation to the bladder from unknown cause. She would need a urologist to do a bladder scope to determine if she truly has interstitial cystitis. Again I recommend returning to your doctor and possibly ask for a referral to a urologist

In summary
1. possible bladder spasms
2. treat with medication for bladder spasms like Detrol
3. possible interstitial cystitis
4. referral to urologist

I hope this answers your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care questions and concerns.

Brief Answer:
spasms is causing pain

Detailed Answer:
I realize that the Detrol is for those who urinate frequently but the reason they are urinating frequently is due to bladder spasms. Your wife may not be feeling the need to urinate often but her pain indicates some bladder spasms. You can have bladder spasms without having urine frequency or urine leakage

Brief Answer:
Spinal problem

Detailed Answer:
If your wife is having spinal problem with bladder issues she will need to see a neurosurgeon and have an MRI determine what is going on in her back. I recommend that she be seen and get the proper testing

For her blood pressure which is high she should be on a low salt diet. Before she gets treated she should have several blood pressures done at different times of the day but all when she is relaxed with her feet flat on the floor and in a quiet area. If her blood pressure continues to be elevated with the top number greater than 140 or the lower number greater than 90 she has high blood pressure and will need treatment.
