Brief Answer:
Side effects of antihypertensives

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX

Thanks for your query.

A. The medications as prescribed to you are:
1. Valzaar (pharmacologically Valsartan) is an anti hypertensive medication, to control high blood pressure.
2. Metpure Xl 25 (pharmacologically Metoprolol) is also an anti hypertensive.
3. Clopitab A (pharmacologically Clopidogrel) is an anti platelet agent which prevents formation of clot in the blood vessels.

B. In your post you have mentioned about undergoing angioplasty and being prescribed the above mentioned medications. Kindly mentioned as to after how many days of starting the medications did you experience the symptoms of back pain, drowsiness and loss of appetite.
A review of the literature reveals that these anti hypertensive agents are known to cause side effects like drowsiness, etc. as mentioned in your post.
However, these side effects are considered mild and easily tolerable.
So, it will be better to consult your treating Doctor/ Cardiologist and discuss regarding a change of the medications if symptoms tend to persist or becomes intolerable.

C. You have also mentioned regarding intake of medications like Riomet and Januvia. Assuming that you have a past history of Diabetes mellitus type 2, due consideration needs to be given to your blood glucose level as Metoprolol has been reported to cause changes in blood sugar levels or cover up/ mask the signs of low blood sugar. Kindly get a regular check on your blood pressure and blood sugar levels.

Clinical examination is important for diagnosis, so I will advise you to consult your Doctor/ Cardiologist for a proper clinical examination.

Wishing you a Good Health.
Take care.
