default
Posted on Fri, 27 May 2016
Question: I'm having very bad mood swings. I just cannot stay happy. Even if there's no problem, I'm very sad and worried about something. I'm running too high on emotions. I recently broke up with my loved one. As long as he was with me, I was worried about how I'd be letting down my family. Now when he's out of my life, I feel empty. I very every night. I feel ignored by everybody. I don't know why this is happening. I'm getting angry at people for no apparent reason. When I'm happy, I'm a totally different person. Need help.

Brief Answer:
There are indication of mood disorder

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

First of all I like to congratulate you for talking first step toward better mental health by posting this query here at healthcare portal. Secondly from the available description I am convinced that these mood shifts are not solely due to recent separation and there is underlying psychiatric illness.

Although a proper diagnosis can not be made with this little information but I feel most probably you have bipolar disorder a kind of mood disorder. In this disorder we have mood shifts along with uncontrolled aggression.

The second possibility is borderline personality disorder a kind of psychiatric disorder which starts at the age of 18-20 years and remains so if not treated properly. The possibility of borderline is there in your case but not as much as bipolar disorder.

Having said this the both disorder can be treated with large extent with available medications and psychotherapy. Although the response is not immediate but over a time you can get good response to have normal or near normal life.

In view of the possibility of these two psychiatric disorders I will request you to see a psychiatrist in your city without making any delay. He will take more detailed history and will conduct mental status examination along with some lab tests if required to make a formal diagnosis.

If you happen to be from western XXXXXXX You can contact me in person as I offer treatment for both conditions.

I hope this helps you.
Thanks and regards.
