Yes endoscopy done one yr ago, was apparently normal, yes stool test normal as I already mentioned, I am not sure about celiac disease, n periods also apparently normal. I had an episode of very bad taste which continued for 2 to 3 days about 4 days ago. I feel that during severe reflux n bloating I get polyuria too. My kidneys n other organs on usg were supposedly normal. Is my colon okay?

I request if this problem can b looked up by other ge physicians also...may b Dr XXXXXXX

Hi,
Thanks for the additional information.

You have ulcer dyspepsia that might be causing the pain in the left hypochondrium.
Upper GI endoscopy may have to be repeated to look for peptic ulcer.
You will get relief with Nexium.

The bloating could be due to increased gas or due to gastroparesis. Check your blood glucose level if not done already.
Prokinetic medications like Reglan or Itopride will provide relief.

The one red sign I find is low hemoglobin. The stool occult blood is negative which rules out any leaking of blood from GI tract causing low hemoglobin.
Abnormal periods as a cause of low hemoglobin is also ruled out.

I would like to look for celiac as a cause for semi formed stools and low hemoglobin.
You can discuss with your doctor about this possibility and the tests to be done.

Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Thx doc for your reply. But I would also like ask that I hope I am not suffering from any kind of colon growth which may be causing pain and putting pressure on my bladder, therefore is it also necessary to get a colonoscopy done to rule out this very disturbing deep seated gnawing pain on left side. My blood glucose levels are normal. Pl doc I am very worried about my 4 presenting symptoms of: 1. Pain 2. Abdominal bloating n gas. 3. Low hb and abnormal stools. Pl help with your prompt and expert advice. Pl also suggest medication for dosage n for hoe much time. Thank you n regards.

Brief Answer:
Answer given below

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I presume you do not have family history of colon cancer.
Your stool occult blood test is also negative.
Moreover you are just 38 years.
These are the reasons why I did not mention about colon cancer as a possible cause.

If you are still apprehensive, you can get a colonoscopy also done.

Please take the following medications till the tests I have mentioned are done-

1. C.Iladac-L 1-0-0 before breakfast for 4 weeks.
2. C.VSL#3 1-0-0 for 4 weeks.
3. Syr.Heme Up 5ml-0-0 till your hemoglobin increases to at least 12.

Regards,
Dr.R.K.
