Question : My daughter was a softball practice this evening. The ball came at her and rolled up her glove and popped her in the wrist. She now has a golf ball sized blue swollen place right in the middle of her inner wrist, where there are a lot of veins. Could she have burst a vein...what should we do to help or should I take her to have someone look at it? We have iced it, and it hurts around a 6-7 on a scale of 1-10. She can't really bend it and has to keep it straight. Thanks for your time and help. Sher

Brief Answer:
Soft tissue injury;she will be fine

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern. After seeing the attached picture ,it looks to be a soft tissue injury/bruise. She will be fine in a few days time.
My suggestions for her are-
1.Keep on doing the ice fomentation, rest with some sort support like wrist brace .
2.Pain killer medicine like ibuprofen along with trypsin/chymotrypsin (prescription only drugs) will help in reduction of swelling.
Hope this suffice.
Take care

Hello, just to follow up, it looks blue-er in person that it does on the photo.

Thanks so much. This is the first time we have ever used this service and I feel much better now. She has a wrist brace that she used when she hurt her wrist before, so will use that. Really appreciate your time.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
First of all thanks for the nice words and you are welcome. Yes I can see the bluish discolouration. You may continue with the treatment as discussed earlier. She will be fine in a few days time.
I am sure her wrist movement are largely normal with slight painful restriction?
Wishing her early recovery.
Take care
