What Causes Black Blood?

Question: I just had my blood drawn at the lab. The blood looked black. It's never looked that way before. What could that mean?

Venous blood appear dark purplish to black....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Blood changes color depending on amount of oxygen and carbondioxide in it. A dark colored blood only means the blood sample was from peripheral vein. It doesn't indicate you have grievous concern.

I wouldn't be worried about blood looking black if you have no breathing issues.
